Title: Phineas Gage

Author: John Fleischman

Genre: Non-fiction/biography

In the 1800’s, a railroad worker named Phineas Gage had a horrible accident that led to discoveries about the brain.  Phineas was a foreman who survived an accident that involved explosives, despite a brain injury.  But he made a “complete recovery”.  He went on to have many jobs and travel the world.  The accident changed him forever, and changed the way people thought about the brain.

Phineas was very lucky to survive.  The theme is luck.  I agree that what happened was luck because, most likely anyone else would’ve died.

I thought that the book was interesting.  I really liked that the book was into detail about what happened.  I liked it most because, it was mostly a boy’s story, and it was supposed to be gross and I liked that.  I rate this book 3 stars because, it was interesting, but comparing it to other books, it wasn’t the best.  I recommend this book to people who like non-fiction because, there is true statements about the brain.
